the return of desi at threshold (2011)

I was booked to play desi dubstep at threshold this year … in celebration of the year of the rabbit (lunar new year 4709) … I had a fun night but honestly it could never compare to one of my fondest memories *ever* : threshold nye 2006. Some day you’ll read the full account (in my autobiography?) but for now you can look at this cute pic:

clinton street party…

Believe it or not, I am an OREgon native. Meaning, I have a huge regard for the ridiculous. I have also never dj’ed a street party before. Sometimes these things come together naturally…

Around the time Gurdas Maan came out with Challa*

A beautiful song recently brought to my attention via The Pure Desi 3 Comp (where it gets a disco refix courtesy of Kaos Productions) released by the ever reliable VIP Records (Edinburgh reppin Desis)

The original Long Da Lishkara is Panjabi filmi at its finest (circa 1986.) The young & ever-so-suave Gurdas Maan graces the screen (from the same film where he first belted out Challa.)

Which ties up another episode of Anjali Random nicely. A very different desi classic, if only of the BrAsian rap variety… *Raxstar waxes poetic in Keep It Undercover
